I saw the topic about “Larry Doby” and my eyes were glued to it. I was excited to learn about the people that started playing baseball in the Major Leagues as an African American. He was a baseball player who played for the Cleveland Indians and being from Cincinnati, Ohio makes me want to learn more about what he did. He got into the Hall of Fame and influencing people from different countries to play Major League baseball. I decided to do Larry Doby because he contributed so much of his life and being a great baseball player who was a great leader.
My research started by looking at his biography on websites and reading articles. I went to different databases and wrote down information on how he was a great leader and played the game right. My Most important source is MLB.com My two other sites are Baseballhistory.com and Baseballhall.org. I looked up his interviews from how much criticism he took when playing the game and it was amazing what people said about his race. I went to the library to look at primary sources and found some videos of him talking about be inducted to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.
I choose the website because there are many interviews of him talking about the game of baseball and how he had to overcome adversity on people giving him criticism about race. My first tab will have his biography and what he did to become a baseball player. The base of the website will be a navy blue because the colors of the Cleveland Indians. The secondary colors will be red and grey because of the secondary colors of the Indians. My second tab will have pictures of Larry playing back in the day and where he grew up to become a Major League Baseball player. My third tab will have interviews of why he became this legendary baseball player and how he influenced so many players to play Major League Baseball.
The conclusion of Larry Doby is that he is a legendary baseball player who did a lot of things in his career, on and off the baseball field. He shows his legacy by being the second African American to be playing in the Major Leagues. He shows leadership by influencing baseball players from different countries that you can play the game of baseball in the Major Leagues. As a result, modern days of major league baseball has different race from all over and has different backgrounds from 1950-2014. The Hall of Fame is his glory for not only showing his leadership and sacrifice on and off the field, this man proves that if you want to play baseball and live in a different country then you have the right to play in the Major Leagues and to show off your talent.
